What I write…

My novels are fantastical and compassionate. I thrive in a liminal space, both with my characters and age categories/genres, often writing in the space between YA and Adult. I love creating characters whose personalities and situations are complicated and nuanced and sometimes appear impossible to reconcile, but at their heart can be integrated by empathetic engagement with change.

…and why I write.

Exploring dichotomy through writing has always been my passion. I ask questions and seek answers while relishing the ubiquitous grey. My books often incorporate archetypes of truth vs. falsity, fragility vs. strength, and mind vs. matter, but always seek the interstitial spaces: the rebellion against the binary. With my books, I encourage readers to ask questions, too, namely: What if people are just… people? Plural.
